A design-and-build project to refurbish room 13 at the Bowes Museum for the display of the Lady Ludlow Collection of English porcelain.
The project involved: renovating existing, historic cases (including an enormous, star-shaped central case); manufacturing other cases in a similar style including the installation of new glass shelving and lighting; designing and installing interpretative and decorative graphics; providing interactive displays; and decorating the gallery.
The Lady Ludlow Collection is one of the great private collections of mainly 18th century English porcelain consisting of around 500 pieces and is being loaned by the National Arts Collection Fund. The Bowes Museum is a French chateau-style building set in beautiful Teesdale countryside and built by John and Josephine Bowes in the mid-19th century to display their large collection of European and British fine and decorative arts.
