Boomtown Galleries, Coventry Transport Museum Open Spring 2007

The second project was to display the Museum’s collection of commercial vehicles and cars from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

The new galleries, which previously housed a large number of closely packed vehicles in three separate areas with very limited interpretation, had to be innovative using established interpretative techniques with newer, more technologically driven, forms of communication.

Our solution was to link the existing galleries with a roadway that provides a physical and visual thread through the spaces with a modular system of electronic signage providing direction, interpretation and interactive opportunities. Interactives are closely linked to displays, such as a car assembly exhibit next to a reconstruction of a 1970s production line.
