A successful credentials pitch has resulted in RFA Design being appointed to drive the interpretive design of the project, first featured on the BBC’s Restoration programme in 2004 and subsequently awarded Heritage Lottery funding in 2008 to restore the site and provide visitor facilities.
With several grade II listed buildings on the site, the majority of which is a scheduled ancient monument and also a conservation area, this last vestige of the salt making industry in the Northwich area is set to become an important new visitor attraction.
Detailed design proposals will be drawn-up and specified during 2010.
